Child Genius Series 5
Richard Osman presides as the show featuring 16 of the country's cleverest youngsters battling to be crowned Britain's brightest child returns. The series begins with the demanding Maths and Memory rounds. Simon from Essex has trained his 11-year-old son Christopher for the show for the past three years. Hayley Elton returns to the competition two years after her eldest, Curtis, took part, hoping that her 11-year-old daughter Sophia can make it second time lucky.
Sophia debuts on the 5th series of Child Genius on Channel 4 this Tuesday at 8pm.
Besides appearing on shows like Child Genius, Sophia and her brother train hard 5 days a week at East London’s Lee Valley Ice Centre in the hope of making the British Championships at the end of the year. “I've been skating since I was four. I love it!” she says.
Sophia and her brother are already in the GB ice dancing development team and the pair won a dance competition only a month or so ago. With other competitions comming up and a test in two weeks to see if they have reached “advanced novice” stage on their way, hopefully, to making the GB junior team.
Besides skating Sophia has high ambitions in the acting world and last year was chosen to perform in Calixto Bieito’s production of Carmen in West End, a role she was understandably delighted to do.
